|Directions from Area Airports||
John F. Kennedy (JFK) Airport - By cab, tell driver you need to get to Manhattan. Take Triborough Bridge to Harlem River Drive and then to the 135th Street exit. Proceed on 135th Street to St. Nicholas Avenue, turn right and then turn left on 141st Street. Proceed one block to Convent Avenue, turn left and proceed one more block. Steinman Hall will be at the corner (on your left) of Convent Avenue and 140th Street. Travel time from JFK may be 45 minutes to an hour. LaGuardia (LGA) Airport - By cab, directions are the same as above. Travel time from LGA should be about 30 minutes. For other transportation options to and from LaGuardia airport, click here.
Newark (EWR) Airport - A cab from Newark airport is fairly expensive (approximately $50 or more). Olympia Trails express buses which run about every 20 minutes (one-way fare = $12.00/round trip = $19.00) will take you to several locations in Manhattan. [If you will be traveling directly to the Institute, we recommend taking bus to the Port Authority at 42nd Street and then either taking the A train to 145th Street or a cab. EAST SIDE (Via FDR Drive, Harlem River Drive or Triborough Bridge) - Take the 135th Street exit. Proceed on 135th Street to St. Nicholas Avenue, turn right and then turn left on 141st Street. Proceed two blocks to Amsterdam Avenue, turn left and proceed down to 135th Street. Make a left turn at 135th Street and proceed about 1/2 a block where will see a security guard station posted at the parking lot entrance on your left. Security guard should have your name for entry. WEST SIDE (Via West Side Highway) - Take the 125th Street exit and then make a left on Amsterdam Avenue up to 135th Street. Make a right turn on 135th Street and proceed about 1/2 a block where will see a security guard station posted at the parking lot entrance on your left. Security guard should have your name for entry. (See campus map).

Subway A, B, C or D lines - The A and D trains are expresses, while the B and C are locals. A and C trains run along 8th Avenue in midtown and stop at Penn Station (Amtrak, NJ Transit, and LIRR) and the Port Authority Bus Terminal. B and D trains run along 6th Avenue in midtown and connect with PATH trains at 34th Street. The A, B, C, and D routes are the same north of 59th Street. Exit at the 145th Street Station using the stairs at the rear of the train. Take the stairs to the right of the ticket booth after passing through the turnstiles to exit at the southwest corner of 145th Street and St. Nicholas Avenue. Walk up the hill one block on 145th Street to Convent Avenue and turn left and walk down to 141st Street. Steinman Hall is the 6-story grey metallic building on your left extending from 141st Street to 140th. The entrance is through the plaza on 140th Street (St. Nicholas Terrace). Do not use the 135th Street exit from the B or C trains, since there are no through streets and the walk is longer than from the 145th Street station.
Subway #1 line - The 1 train is a local that runs along 7th Avenue in midtown and along Broadway north of 59th Street. It stops at Penn Station (Amtrak, NJ Transit, and LIRR) and has an underground connection at Times Square/42nd Street to the Port Authority Bus Terminal. Exit at the 137th Street Station. Walk diagonally through the small park to 138th Street, turn right, and walk one block uphill to Amsterdam Avenue and the entrance to the campus. Walk straight through the campus to the next street, which is Convent Avenue, and turn left to 140th Street. Steinman Hall is the 6-story grey metallic building across 140th Street on your right. The entrance is through the plaza on 140th Street (St. Nicholas Terrace).
Metro North, Long Island Railroad - From Grand Central (Metro North) Take the subway shuttle (S Train) to Times Square, then transfer to either the No. 1, A or D lines and proceed as above. From Penn Station (Long Island Railroad) you may take any of the above subway lines.
By Bus - M-18 to 140th Street and Convent Avenue; M-4 or M-5 to Broadway and 140th Street, walk up 140th Street to Convent Avenue; M-100 or M-101 to Amsterdam Avenue and 140th, walk east one block to Convent Avenue; BX-19 to 145th and Convent Avenue, walk south on Convent Avenue to 140th Street.

Tell the cab driver to take you to the corner of Amsterdam Avenue and 141st Street. From Amsterdam Avenue turn on 141st Street and proceed east (turn right if coming from downtown and left if coming from uptown) one block to Convent Avenue and then right on Convent to 140th Street (St. Nicholas Terrace). The entrance to Steinman Hall is on 140th Street (St. Nicholas Terrace) on your left.
